The American psychologist and educator Granville Stanley Hall () pioneered in developing psychology in the United States. His wide-ranging and prolific writings reveal a central theme best characterized as genetic psychology or evolutionism. On Feb. 1, , G. Stanley Hall was born on his grandfather's farm in Ashfield, Mass.   The American psychologist G. Stanley Hall received a Ph.D. in psychology from Harvard University, the first person in the United States to be granted this newly established degree. He is more important as an organizer and administrator than as an original thinker in psychology, although he did much to advance the study of childhood and adolescence.
